A company called LarsenCl has made a WinSocket Application FAQ.
I've tried to reach the people there for some comments,
but I either get some auto mail-back info, or the adress I try is returned by the mailer deamon.
E.g. [e-mail]

Anyone got a address there, or even better:
If anyone at the company reads this, could you contact me?

You actually asked your question incorrectly. What you want is an
X Server. There are several X Servers available that run under
Microsoft Windows. Some use Windows Sockets, but they aren't
mandatory. Here are a couple products you can check out. They
should be easily available to you.

Reflection/X from Walker Richer and Quinn
eXceed/W from HCL
XVision from Visionware

There are many others, including relatively unknown products available
as demos on the internet.

Mine has worked fine for months (winsock17)
Yesterday I got the same  message for every ftp I tried

Trumpet version 1.0A will *not* work.

WS_GMAIL is in closed beta testing. Its author is not sure whether it will be
available or not for public usage. The copy available on ftp.usma.edu is not
the latest version but it does work quite well for the most part.

Read the documentation carefully and follow every step. It'll work.

Has anyone been able to find a way to paste into the Trumpet News reader
for winsock?  I find it easier to use than the VN version, but I use cut
and paste between windows applications frequently, and I would like to
be able to use it in news articles as well.

Hello.
I just deflated xwindemo. It works well to a UNIX.
I Need to  use a VAX/VMS with Decwindows/MOTIF as
client as well. I tried, but everything fails. In the
xwin.hlp there *IS* an example of xstart.com to use
on a VMS box, so I suppose it should work. Anyone out there managed
to get it running? Please post any tips.

Sure, like all older Windows applications, it uses Shift-Ins to paste. Newer
ones should also take Ctrl-V.

Just tried it now and it worked okay.

I have had some "similar" problems.  When I rund the program it sits,
and sits.  After a while it will eventually start compiling the articles.  I have
had the program also work normally, but this is not that often.  I would also
like and answer to this problem.

I too have a slip connection with trumpet 1.0a but have the same problem as
the person above. Help!
What is the most recent version of WINTALK? Where can I ftp it?

I don't know if anyone else has this problem, because it seems like
everyone is pretty satisfied with Trumpet Newsreader for Winsock.  But it
seems like with every newsreader I try (Dos/Winsock, etc.) it takes about
ten thousand hours (ok, I'm exaggerating a little) for the list of
newsgroups and the list of articles to appear.  My Unix reader does it
almost instantaneously.  Just wondering if I'm doing something wrong
before I totally give up on PC readers.
